NABARD organizes Workshop on Formation, Promotion of 10,000 Farmer Producer Organizations in Srinagar
Srinagar, Mar 29, KDC: National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development (NABARD), on Monday organized a Regional level workshop for Kashmir division on the new Central Sector Scheme for Formation and Promotion of 10,000 Farmer Producer Organizations at Hotel Meridian in Srinagar.
According to news agency Kashmir Dot Com- (KDC) at the very outset, Manohar Lal DGM NABARD underlined the objective of the workshop and said that it will go a long way in spelling out the role and responsibilities of various stakeholders. He further stated that NABARD being the implementing agency is actively involved in promotion of FPOs in Kashmir division. He also highlighted the significance of FPOs in addressing the issues of backward and forward linkages concerning farmers.
Director Agriculture Kashmir, Chowdhary Mohammad Iqbal gave a detailed scenario of the status of Agriculture in Kashmir and highlighted the role of FPOs in alleviating the issues of small and Marginal Framers.
L. R. Dogra, DGM NABARD while speaking on the occasion according to news agency KDC indicated that 06 FPOs have been sanctioned during the current financial year under the scheme. He further stated that respective CBBOs are required to take up various interventions outlined in the sanction only and adhere to the timelines.
A detailed presentation was made by Asif A. Bhat of NABARD to give the participants a detailed overview on the concept of FPO formation, registration and business plan implementation. During the workshop, the participants raised several queries which were addressed by the officers of NABARD.
The Workshop was chaired by Manohar Lal, DGM NABARD Srinagar. The Director Agriculture Kashmir, Chowdhary Mohammad Iqbal was also present on the occasion.
The workshop was attended by officers of Agriculture, Horticulture, Animal Husbandry, Sheep Husbandry and Fisheries departments, Lead District Managers and Scientists of KVKs. (KDC)
