Rescue Operations Widened, More Casualties Feared: SSP Doda
Doda, Apr 12: Two bodies have been retrieved from a nallah, taking the death toll to five in a tragic accident involving a mini-bus in Doda district of Jammu division on Monday afternoon.
SSP Doda Mumtaz Ahmad told Srinagar-based news agency Global News Service (GNS) that two bodies have been retrieved during the ongoing rescue operations inside the nallah.
Identifying two of the deceased as Yasir Hussain (26) son of Bashir Ahmad, resident of Kahara and Shukur Din son of Abdul Aziz resident of Tanta Kahara, the injured as per the official include Kali Begum (40) wife of Abdul Kareem, Tanveer Hussain son of Ali Hussain, resident of Cilly Malath, Abdul Latief (35) son of Mohammed Ibrahim, resident of Chilly, Ghulam Mohammed (60) son of Fateh Mohammed, resident of Gali and Prem Chand (60) son of Sant Ram, resident of Bajja Chirala.
The injured have been evacuated to GMC Jammu for immediate treatment, the official said.
“The resue operations have been extended to a wider area to trace the missing persons”, the official said adding that “The death toll may rise as several passengers are yet to be retrieved even as many of the already retrieved persons have suffered critical bodily injuries”, the official added.
