FCS&CA Conducts Market Inspection in Kupwara
Registers 4 FIRs, Fines Erring Shopkeepers
Kupwara, Apr 17: Enforcement teams of Department of Food, Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs (FCS&CA) conducted inspections of various markets in view of the ongoing month of Ramdhan here on Saturday.
The teams led by Assistant Director FCS&CA Kupwara Mudasir Ahmad checked the prices of essential commodities especially vegetables, fruits, meat and poultry. On the occasion, four cases were registered besides a fine of rupees six-thousand rupees realized from erring shopkeepers for selling the commodities at exorbitant rates.
Assistant Director FCS &CA Kupwara Mudasir Ahmad while talking to Global News Service (GNS) said that 4 FIRs where lodged during the inspections. “A butcher in Handwara besides two against fruits and vegetable vendors and one against a poultry dealer in Krusan Lolab were booked and various other shopkeepers fined for resorting to market malpractices”, Ahmad said.
“We have already lodged five cases, have sealed three shops and levied an amount of thirty-thousand rupees from erring shopkeepers in the ongoing month of April”, the official said.
“Our teams are inspecting the markets on a daily basis throughout the district” the official said.
The official has in the meantime urged the shopkeepers to follow the set rate lists in letter and spirit, ‘contrary to which action will be initiated’. (GNS)
