JKEC meets Executive President JK Bank; Problems faced by Private Schools highlighted
Schools expected to get financial relief in near future
Srinagar: Jammu and Kashmir Education Chamber (JKEC) today met the Executive President of J&K Bank Shri Arun Kumar Gandhotra and apprised him about the problems being faced by the private schools during the current pandemic situation. The Director assured JKEC of every possible help from the bank’s side and informed that JK Bank is rolling out a scheme wherein private schools, along with other sectors, will feel relief on the economic front.
JK Education Chamber delegation led by President KCCI Shiekh Ashiq Hussain met the Executive Director JK Bank in his office chamber. The delegation comprised of Chairman JKEC G.N.Var, Co-Chairman Showkat Choudhary, members from the Women’s wing of PSAJK and members of the executive council of PSA JK. During the meeting, the delegation highlighted the issues confronting the private schools especially during the present pandemic situation and requested the bank authorities to give some relief to the private schools which form a remarkable and in fact the biggest contributor to the education sector as well as to the economy of the UT. The delegation informed the bank authorities that private schools are actually the largest part of entrepreneurs because this sector provides jobs to lacs of educated and skilled human resource. The delegation apprised the Executive Director about difficulties in repaying the loans borrowed by school owners in a situation where collection of fee has become almost impossible given the pandemic situation and worst economic condition of most of the households. In response, the Executive Director JK Bank, Shri Gandhotra assured the delegation that the issues highlighted during the meeting will be given sympathetic consideration and problems faced by the private schools will be resolved within the ambit of bank’s norms.
President KCCI, Mr Shiekh Ashiq stressed on the need to provide moratorium to the borrowers who are not in a position to repay the loan amounts during the present worst economic conditions so that they can survive and concentrate on providing quality education to the students without stress. In response Shri Gandhotra informed the delegation that JK Bank is going to roll out a scheme in a day or two wherein all the sectors including the private schools who have borrowed loans from the bank will get relief to a large extent. He also informed that the welfare scheme which was in vogue last year, will be analyzed once again and opportunities will be explored so that private schools get some more relief.
The delegation thanked the Executive Director of JK Bank for giving a patient hearing and a positive response.
