JKEC organises program to felicitate women entrepreneurs in education sector
Srinagar, June 12: Jammu and Kashmir Education Chamber (JKEC) today organised a special program to honour and felicitate women entrepreneurs in Education sector. During the program various issues related to the schools run by women were also discussed.
The program was attended by eminent academics, entrepreneurs and researchers. Qamar Zamani, academic director IDPS said that government should create an environment to encourage women in the field of entrepreneurship. He said that sons and daughters must be equally valued and loved in the family.
Eminent teacher trainer and international journalist Dr Kanchan Negi in her speech said that today women are facing a lot of challenges and barriers in the society. She asked why conditions are set for women and not for men. She said that the 5th goal of UN goals for sustainable development is about gender equality and every member country has to ensure this goal is achieved. She said that we should encourage young minds to go for entrepreneurship.
Maryam Shawl from Shanghai China emphasises the need to understand that women should be given equal opportunities to excel and grow.
All speakers were of the general opinion that if given right platform to excel, women are no less than men. They advocated for bringing change in the mindset of people who propagate gender inequality.
Speakers were of the opinion that educated women should invest in education sector so that our new generation is equipped with good morals and great potential to show their mettle to the world. Showkat Choudhary, co chairman of JKEC said that every woman is the first teacher of a child and every religion has given high regard to the woman folk.
G N Var Chairman JKEC in his speech appreciated the role of women entrepreneurs in education for lighting the lamps of knowledge in society. He said that we have to teach our children how to think and not “what to think”. He stressed upon the need of developing critical thinking skills among children.
He said that entrepreneurs in education sector are currently facing huge problems and in some cases schools are on the verge of closure due to the Covid situation. He said that government should come forward to help such women entrepreneurs by facilitating them at various levels. It will also help tens of thousands of students, he said.
Prominent business personality Feroz Ahmad said that we should not hesitate to step in when we see some kind of problems faced by women. He congratulated the women who are contributing in the Education sector.
On this occasion, women entrepreneurs in education sector were also felicitated.
