Secretary HED inaugrates online series of NAAC Awareness Workshops. Inaugral workshop through virtual mode held at Amar Singh College Srinagar

Srinagar (Press Release):In a significant development for a time bound accreditation and reaccreditation of the degree colleges across the Jammu & Kashmir UT, for the effective implementation of National Education Policy 2020, which envisages granting graded autonomy to the degree granting colleges through a transparent system of graded accreditation, the Department of Higher Education constituted Divisional Committees for NAAC Accreditation for monitoring the process and progress of NAAC related activities and conducting of NAAC Awareness workshops for the purpose. To achieve fruitful results the Divisional Committees for NAAC Accreditation headed by the Nodal Principlas of Kashmir and Jammu divisions respectively nominated experts and coordinating colleges amongst the degree colleges of the respective divisions who have been assigned the duty of guidance and submission of progress reports to their respective Divisional Committee Chairpersons. A total number of 16 NAAC Awaereness Workshops with 08 workshops in each division shall be held by various experts. The series of workshops which started on July 13, 2021 simultaneously in both the divisions was virtually inaugurated by Secretary Higher Education Department Ms. Sushma Chauhan (IAS). The inaugural session was attended by Nodal Principal Kashmir Division colleges, Prof. (Dr) Yasmeen Ashai, Nodal Principal Jammu Division Colleges , Prof.(Dr) Ravinder Kumar Tikoo and Principals of the degree colleges across the Jammu and Kashmir UT. In her inaugural address the Secretary Higher Education Department stressed upon the need of accreditation of the degree colleges for the effective implementation of National Education Policy 2020. She set a deadline for all the colleges for accreditation and reaccreditation and impressed upon all the stakeholders for their joint team work so that our degree colleges may get above Grade “A” which she termed is atleast justified in terms of the existing infrastructure in the colleges.
Later in Kashmir Division the inaugural NAAC Awareness Workshop was held at Amar Singh College Srinagar, the designated coordinating college, under the chairmanship of Nodal Principal for Kashmir Division Colleges and Chairperson Divisional Committee for NAAC Accreditation, Prof. (Dr) Yasmeen Ashai. Principal Amar Singh College Srinagar, Prof. Bashir Ahmad Rather, who was the expert and resource person of the session, presented a detailed and elaborative Power Point Presentation on the process, practice and guidance for NAAC accreditation. The technical session was followed by a question answer session, in which participants from the linked colleges actively participated and cleared their doubts. The participating Principals and IQAC Coordinators of the linked colleges applauded Prof. Bashir Ahmad Rather for such a brain storming session and expreesed their satisfaction over the workshop. Prof. (Dr) Yasmeen Ashai, in her laconic introductory address and concluding remarks threw a detailed light on the aims and objectives of the series of NAAC Awareness Workshops and appreciated the expert for his detailed presentation. She impressed upon all the participating colleges for the collaborative efforts, so that the target is achieved.
The workshop was attended by Principals, IQAC members and faculty of S.P. College Srinagar, GWC Anantnag, GDC Boys Sopore, GWC, Kupwara, GDC Kulgam, GDC Bandipora, GDC Chadoora, GDC Bomai, GDC Frisal and members of IQAC, ICT & Faculty from Amar Singh College Srinagar.
Prof. Zubair Masoodi, Technical Coordinator for the NAAC Awareness Workshop Series HED, Dr. Parvaiz Ahmad, Prof. Syed Ishfaq Nanzoor and Dr. Tawseef Ahmad provided the technical support for the workshop.
Dr. Kousar Muzamil, Coordinator IQAC, Amar Singh College Srinagar, conducted the proceedings of the workshop while as Prof. Zahid Zaffer presented vote of thanks.
