NPP’s condolence resolution on sad demise of Syed Ali Shah Geelani, Chandan Mitra
jammu (PR): The National Panthers Party Working Committee in a condolence meeting held at Jammu & Srinagar passed condolence resolution on the sad demise of demise of Syed Ali Shah Geelani, former MLA in J&K Assembly & two terms Assembly colleague of Prof.Bhim Singh who died at last midnight and Mr. Chandan Mitra, BJP ex-MP & prominent political activist represented BJP at most difficult time. The Panthers Party in a resolution on the sad demise of two leaders of J&K and West Bengal, one from Jamat-e-Islami and another from BJP in West Bengal described their deaths as a sad occasion.
Prof.Bhim Singh, President, J&K National Panthers said that Ali Shah Geelani were a benchmate and sat together in the Assembly and created horror for Sheikh Abdullah’s leadership in the Assembly when Sheikh Abdullah was the Chief Minister. He said that he was elected as first MLA from the Panthers Party which he founded in 1982 and won election as first Panthers MLA in J&K Assembly. Prof.Bhim Singh also filed a writ petition against the illegal detention of Sheikh Abdullah and got him released from the Supreme Court.
Prof.Bhim Singh said that many cheap opponents have been criticizing Sheikh Mohd. Abdullah was communal and sectarian who never compromised with communal and reactionary forces even in 1947. He said that secular harmony in Kashmir was maintained under Sheikh Abdullah’s leadership in 1947 and Kashmir was the only place where a thin minority, Kashmir Pandits and Sikh fraternity were not touched when communal chaos prevailed in newly created Pakistan and Indian continent in 1947. Even Mahatma Gandhi during his visit to Kashmir admired Kashmiri Muslim fraternity for keeping secularism alive in the Valley.
Prof.Bhim Singh said that Ali Shah Geelani were abused by many who opposed him politically but he (Bhim Singh) said that this was own and personal contacts with Ali Shah Geelani who was no less secular than me (Bhim Singh). The Panthers Party in a condolence resolution prayed that God may accommodate him in heaven. He also conveyed a similar message to all the relatives and friends of Ali Shah Geelani.
