Srinagar; Scores of areas in the summer capital are reeling under acute shortage of drinking water amid scorching heat. Residents of New colony Sariwarpora pattan are up in arms against the acute shortage of water in the area.

They alleged carelessness by Public Health Engineering (PHE) department towards the inhabitants of the area.
“There is not a drop of water to drink as taps are running dry. Every time we visited the office of Executive Engineer Public Health Engineering with the request to restore supply in the area but to no avail,” residents said.

Residents told that Department has failed to provide clean drinking water to the inhabitants of this area. The problem of supplying potable water is since years now. We brought the issue into notice of concerned authorities repeatedly but till date the authorities have done nothing to restore water supply to the area.

We are now appealing the concerned authorities to look into our matter and end the clean drinking water woes of this area, which is our basic right, added the locals.
