Fisheries Dept stocks trout fish in Anantnag

Anantnag Sep 13 : Joint Director Fisheries South Kashmir Mohammad Muzaffar Bazaaz along with staff stocked trout fish along the Bringhi area of South Kashmir’s Anantnag district.
The stocking of trout in streams and other water bodies of J & K has been a regular program of Department of Fisheries in order to replish the depleted stocks if fish mostly due to angling or fish been caught by the down trodden fishermen community of the area for their livelihood.
Recently district Anantnag had been declared as one district one product by Principal Secretary Agriculture, Animal, Sheep and Fisheries under whose guidance the Department has been able to cover the beneficiaries through various schemes of PMMSY.
It is to be noted that Trout Fish Farming Project, Kokernag is one of the largest Trout Farming Project in Asia where it caters the live stock to departmental units, private fish farmers, stocking of streams etc managed by the technical, skilled and hard working staff that paved way to realize a revenue of Rs 2.05 crore. Mohammad Muzaffar Bazaaz is also chief project officer of Kokernag fish farm. (KINS)
