Covid-19: Lone Mohalla Sogam Hamlet In Kupwara Declared ‘Micro Red Zone’

Kupwara, Oct 9 : Authorities in Kupwara on Saturday declared a “Lone Mohalla Sogam” hamlet in north Kashmir’s Kupwara district as “micro Red Zone” after a few covid-19 cases were reported from the area.
Consequent to the declaration, inward or outward movement of any person from the Zone has been barred, according to an order issued by the deputy commissioner Kupwara, a copy of which lies with GNS.

“Further the surrounding hamlets of “Lone Mohalla Sogam” are declared as Buffer Zone and the inhabitants of the area shall also restrict their movement and shall not allow visitors to visit their homes without written permission of Administrator concerned,” the order reads.

The Deputy Commissioner has directed Tehsildar Sogam to act as Administrator for Red and Buffer Zone and he shall be assisted by Mohammad Maqbool Kumar Lecturer Govt. BHSS Warsun Kralpora.

“The Administrator/Assisting Officer shall ensure screening/Sampling of Households in the Red Zone in coordination with concerned BMO and consequently report to COVID Control Room Kupwara as per the prescribed format by 1:00 Pm on daily basis.”

All the officers of the line departments has been asked to ensure availability of basic facilities including food grains, LPG, medicines etc. in the Red and Buffer Zones. “They shall promptly respond to medical emergencies and concerned BMO shall dedicate one on call ambulance for the Red Zone area.”

The SHO concerned has been also asked to ensure barricading at all the entry points of Red Zone to prevent inward and outward movement as per the guidelines.

“Two (2) additional surveillance teams shall be deployed to cover all households in the Red Zone through door to door screening and sampling in the next four days,” the order reads, adding, “Any person/group/organisation found involved in breach of this order shall be booked under relevant laws.” (GNS)
