NLCO provides Pontoon for the cleansing of Gilsar Lake Srinagar

Srinagar :Under Mission Ehsaas – Restoration of Traditional Water Navigational Routes, Nigeen Lake Conservation Organisation today provided a much-needed and much-awaited Pontoon for the cleansing of Gilsar.

After successful culmination of NLCO’s Mission Ehsaas cleansing of Khushalsar which resulted in the restoration of this almost dead waterbody to its pristine glory, the administration initiated cleaning of Gilsar and the task was given to Dept. of Irrigation and Flood Control. Irrigation Dept. has been doing the cleaning job for last few months but without pontoon it was very difficult for them to collect the muck and silt from Gilsar.

We are thankful to Divisional Commissioner who encouraged and motivated NLCO to procure a pontoon for the sustained cleaning of the lake. NLCO hereby expresses its sincere appreciations to Mr. GM Lone of Tarmac Group for donating the pontoon to NLCO.

In a special event today held at Gill Kadal, NLCO provided the Pontoon to Dept. of Irrigation for the expedited cleaning of Gilsar. Mr. G M Lone of Tarmac Group flagged off the pontoon. Officers of Irrigation Dept. SMC, Local residents, concerned citizens besides media personnel were present during the launch of the pontoon in Gilsar Lake.

NLCO is highly thankful to all for participating in the event especially Mr. GM Lone for his generous donation of the pontoon, Dr. Raja Muzaffar Bhat, Adv. Nadeem Qadiri, Dr. Iajaz Naqshbandi & Zahoor Qari etc for gracing the occasion.

NLCO strongly believes that with the help of this pontoon the dept. of irrigation will achieve faster results in cleansing the lake. Meanwhile, we request SMC commissioner to kindly provide muck lifting vehicles so that the waste collected from the lake is disposed off quickly.
