Sticker Scam: Lone activist goes on hunger strike at Lal Chowk

Says it’s a criminal conspiracy to malign police department, demands investigation by crime branch

Srinagar : A social activist Umer Bhat Friday went on hunger strike against the alleged sticker scam in which transporters alleged that they are paying Rs 200 every day to unknown persons who claim to be traffic cops.

Talking to news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), Umar said “Today I am protesting and I am going on a hunger strike against the scam in which transporters are being scammed by pasting a sticker on their vehicles by unknown persons posing as traffic cops”.

He said that the government should have taken action in the first place against those culprits and direct the Crime branch to investigate the scam as it is a serious move to malign the police department.

“I went to every district to check the fact of these stickers but found that there is no direction for this sticker pasting on vehicles from any department. It is quite clear that this is a gang of burglars who are looting transporters,” Umer said—(KNO)
