S P Vaid, Shah Faesal Likely To Be Appointed Advisors To LG
Srinagar, Jan 11(KPS): Former IAS officer Shah Faesal and ex-Director General of Police S P Vaid could be appointed as advisors to Lieutenant-Governor (LG) Manoj Sinha, officials said on Tuesday. They said while Vaid belongs to Jammu, Shah is from Kashmir Valley.
Also, sources told KPS that both have unblemished character with no corruption related case against them.
“Hectic discussions regarding their appointment are going in New Delhi and very soon decision will be taken,” the sources said, adding, “With just two advisors, overall functioning of the J&K government has been affected.”
There has been no replacement to Baseer Ahmad Khan ever since he was relieved, in a sudden, move on October 5 last year.
Khan was appointed advisor to then Lt Governor G C Murmu. Under Murmu’s successor, Sinha, Khan held the key portfolios of Power Development, Rural Development, Relief and Reconstruction, Culture, Tourism, Planning and Industries and Commerce.
It is worthwhile to state here that Shah Faesal, a 2010 batch IAS officer, quit the civil services to join politics. He was even placed under house arrest against the backdrop of the abrogation of Article 370. Later in June 2020, Faesal along with PDP leaders Sartaj Madni and Peer Mansoor were released from detention.
After his release, Faesal resigned from the post of chief of Jammu & Kashmir People’s Movement (JKPM) which, along with what appeared to be a softening of his political stance, led to rumours that he was set to rejoin government service. He had resigned from the civil services on January 9, 2019.
Vaid belongs to Kathua district and he shares an excellent rapport with centre, sources said. Apart from it, he along with Shah Faesal has had unblemished career including as director general of police and then as commissioner transport department. (KPS)
