Department of Fisheries Ganderbal today celebrated the World Fisheries Day 2022 at trout fish farm Mamer Kangan with great zeal and zest.
The event was chaired by SDM Kangan besides Tehsildar Kangan,Professors and students from Central University of Kashmir and Bemina, fish farmers of the district also attended the event.
While interacting with a large gathering of farmers and students, Dr Salman Rouf Chalkoo, Assistant Director Fisheries Ganderbal highlighted the importance of World Fisheries Day.
He said that the Department is playing a major role in uplifting the socio-economic condition of rural populace and also provides employment opportunities to unemployed youth of the district by undertaking fish culture.
On the occassion students of the CUK presented cultural programs.
Chief Guest SDM Kangan also spoke on the occassion and took stock of the stalls and models prepared by the students of GDC Bemina.
The event ended with vote of thanks to the farmers and students.
