Acting tough against the persons involved in illegal extraction and transportation of minerals, police have seized 17 vehicles and arrested 17 persons during the month of June & July in District Ganderbal.
Under the directions of SSP Ganderbal Nikhil Borkar-IPS, Special Police teams were constituted to check the menace of illegal mining in the district. The teams were led by SHOs and DOs of Police Stations and Police Posts of the district under the supervision of SDPO Kangan Muzaffar Jan-JKPS & DySP Hqr’s Ganderbal Gh Hassan-JKPS. During the course of action, 17 persons were arrested & 17 vehicles (15 Tippers, 01 Tractor & 01 Dumper) were seized who were found involved in illegal extraction and transportation of minerals during the month of June & July-2023.
Accordingly, cases under relevant sections of law stands registered at respective police stations and investigation has been taken up.
Persons found indulging in illegal mining activities shall be dealt as per law. Community members are requested to share information regarding the crimes in their neighbourhood with their concerned police units.
