Renowned Kashmiri Urologist Honored with ‘Inspiring Urologist of India Award 2024’

In a first, renowned Kashmiri urologist Dr. Mufti Mahmood, former HOD at Government Medical College, Srinagar, and currently serving as Associate Director of Urology and Renal Transplantation at Paras Health Srinagar, has been honored with the prestigious 'INSPIRING UROLOGIST OF INDIA—2024' award by Economic Times.

The award was presented at a notable ceremony held at Hotel Taj Palace in Delhi.

Dr. Mufti Mahmood Ahmed is an alumnus of Banaras Hindu University, where he completed his M.Ch in 2004.

He began his career as a consultant urologist at Government Medical College, Srinagar, and through dedication and perseverance, advanced to the position of Head of the Department of Surgery.

During his tenure, he achieved several milestones, including performing the first PCNL for renal stone disease at GMC Srinagar in May 2010 and pioneering minimally invasive procedures for renal stone disease at SMHS Hospital.

Known for enhancing urological services in Kashmir, Dr. Mufti Mahmood specializes in advanced laparoscopic and endourological procedures. His department's excellence led the National Board of Examination to grant four fellowship seats in minimally invasive surgery.

With a distinguished career spanning 35 years, he retired in June 2023 and subsequently joined Paras Health Hospital in Srinagar as Associate Director of Urology & Renal Transplantation. There, he continues to serve the people of Kashmir with his expertise and exceptional surgical skills.
