Waiting List Candidates Hold Peaceful Protest in Jammu, Demand Rule Amendments for Resignation Consideration
Jammu, August 9, 2024- A large gathering of waiting list candidates staged a peaceful protest at Maharaja Hari Singh Park today, urging the LG administration to amend the waiting list rules to consider resignations within a reasonable time frame, as practiced in other Indian states and union territories.
Thee candidates representing various departments emphasized that this amendment would save over 500+++ meritorious candidates from disappointment and help address the acute unemployment issue in Jammu and Kashmir. They pointed out that current regulations do not automatically activate the waiting list to fill vacancies caused by mass resignations, resulting in seat wastage and resource misallocation.
The candidates urged the authorities to relax the waiting list rules and consider early resignations within a year for advertised posts, highlighting that neighboring states like Delhi, Haryana, Punjab, Chandigarh, Pondicherry, and Gujarat have already implemented similar rules, optimizing resource allocation and preventing seat wastage.
"We believe in the government's commitment to justice and equality "We urge the LG administration to look into this serious matter and amend the waiting list rule to consider resignations. This would be a significant step towards empowering the youth and addressing unemployment in J&K."
