AB Qayoom Wani, Chairman of the Jammu and Kashmir Civil Society Forum and President of the Jammu Kashmir Ladakh Pensioners United Front, has formally rejected the Waqf (Amendment) Bill, 2024.
In a representation addressed to the Joint Secretary of the Lok Sabha Secretariat, Wani articulated his concerns regarding the bill.
Wani, who is also a former president of EJAC, stated that the proposed amendments contradict the values and spirit of the Islamic System of Waqf.
Emphasizing his rights as a citizen of India to practice his religious faith, Wani urged the Government of India to refrain from adopting the bill in any form.
