First-Time Free Langar Khana Launched in Kashmir

In a groundbreaking move for Kashmir, the We The Helping Hands Foundation has launched the region’s first-ever free Langar Khana on Bohlachipora Ali Jan Road in central Kashmir's Srinagar on Sunday.

This new initiative, operating under the slogan "AAO Khawo Aur Dua Dou," is dedicated to providing free meals to the attendants of patients receiving treatment at SKIMS Soura.

Beginning this week, the Langar Khana will offer lunch from 1 PM to 3 PM and dinner from 7 PM to 9 PM. The aim is to assist those facing financial difficulties while supporting their loved ones in the hospital. Many attendants struggle to afford basic meals, and this new service seeks to address that need.

Additionally, the foundation will provide blankets for patients and their families, with the understanding that they will be returned once treatment is completed.

Aga Syed Ruhullah Mehdi, the Member of Parliament for Srinagar, was the chief guest at the inauguration ceremony. He emphasized the significance of the initiative, stating, "This Langar Khana is a testament to the spirit of compassion and community support. It’s heartening to see such initiatives that provide relief to those in need, demonstrating the true essence of our shared humanity."

Umar Wani, the founder of We The Helping Hands Foundation, shared his vision for the project, saying, "Our goal is to ease the hardship faced by hospital attendants. By providing free meals and blankets, we hope to offer a small but significant relief to those who are already going through a tough time. We believe that by coming together, we can make a real difference in their lives."
