JKCSF Advocates for a Robust Media Policy
On the occasion of National Press Freedom Day, the J&K Civil Society Forum (JKCSF), led by Chairman Abdul Qayoom Wani, stresses the urgent need for a comprehensive media policy to ensure the dissemination of accurate information and uphold journalistic integrity.
In today’s digital age, the unchecked spread of misinformation, particularly on social media, poses significant challenges. JKCSF believes a robust policy is essential to curb the circulation of fake news, uphold moral values, and protect the dignity of professional journalism. Such a framework would also empower the common man with access to credible and factual information.
The proposed policy should promote ethical practices, accountability, and responsibility within the media sector. It must also address the growing concerns of online waywardness while safeguarding the right to free expression. By doing so, we can create a balanced media environment that serves society's collective interests.
JKCSF calls on the government, media stakeholders, and civil society to support this initiative, ensuring that journalism remains a beacon of truth and a pillar of democracy. Together, we can foster an informed and responsible community.
Abdul Qayoom Wani
Chairman, JKCSF
