Delayed Payment of Employee Dues: A Crisis Ignored, Say JKCSF, JKPUF
Under the dynamic leadership of Chairman Mr. Abdul Qayoom Wani, the Jammu and Kashmir Civil Society Forum (JKCSF) and Jammu Kashmir Pensioners United Front (JKPUF) have strongly condemned the ongoing non-payment of critical employee entitlements, including the GP Fund, Gratuity, Leave Salary, and Revised Gratuity.
For the past seven months, both pensioners and in-service employees have been deprived of their rightful dues, pushing them into severe financial distress. These entitlements are not mere privileges but fundamental rights, essential for employees' financial well-being. The prolonged withholding of these payments is a gross violation of workers' rights, undermining their economic security.
The failure to release GP Fund bills, in particular, has been described as a blatant act of misappropriation, depriving employees of their hard-earned savings. Despite repeated appeals and reminders over the past year, the administration has demonstrated a shocking lack of accountability and empathy, continuing to ignore the immense human suffering caused by this inaction.
In light of this, the JKCSF and JKPUF have called on the Honorable Chief Minister and the state government to intervene immediately and resolve this matter with urgency. Legal provisions clearly stipulate that the government must pay interest on delayed payments, and the organizations urge the Chief Minister to ensure these obligations are fulfilled without further delay.
The JKCSF stresses that any further postponement of these payments would only exacerbate the financial crisis and deepen the erosion of trust in governance. The forum remains committed to supporting the affected employees and warns that continued inaction may compel it to take democratic forms of protest to demand justice.
**The JKCSF and JKPUF urge the government to prioritize the release of these dues and restore the dignity of Jammu and Kashmir's employees.**
