Three Arrested for Illegal Sand Extraction in Pampore: Police

Continuing its crackdown on illegal mining activities, the Awantipora Police have arrested three individuals involved in the illegal extraction of minerals in the Pampore area.

A police team from the Pampore Police Station, led by SHO Inspector Naieem Rashid, apprehended the accused identified as:

  1. Muzafar Ahmad Hanji, son of Mohd Maqbool Hanji, resident of Bujibagh
  2. Mohd Ramzan Hanji, son of Gh Mohd Hanji, resident of Bujibagh
  3. Mehraj-u-Din Bhat, son of Ab Aziz Bhat, resident of Patalbagh

The arrested persons were involved in the illegal extraction of sand from the Jhelum River and had also been found damaging the embankment at Patalbagh, Pampore.

A case under FIR No. 145/2024 has been registered at Police Station Pampore under relevant sections of the law. Investigations into the matter are ongoing.

The police have warned that individuals found engaged in illegal mining activities will be dealt with strictly in accordance with the law.
