Police Arrest Two Drug Peddlers in north Kashmir’s Sopore
In a bid to combat the growing menace of drug abuse, police in Sopore have arrested two drug peddlers and seized a significant quantity of psychotropic substances.
A police team from Sopore Police Station, along with the Police Post Bus Stand, conducted a checkpoint operation at Neharpora Sopore under the supervision of SDPO Sopore. During the operation, two suspicious individuals were intercepted and identified as Nazir Ahmad Shah @Bedana, son of Mohammad Yousuf Shah, and Nasir Yousuf Shah @Bada Anta, son of Mohammad Yousuf Shah, both residents of Neharpora Sopore.
Upon searching the suspects, police recovered 264 capsules of the banned drug Spasmo-Proxyvon Plus. Both individuals were arrested and taken into custody at Sopore Police Station. A case (FIR No. 243/2024) has been registered against them under relevant sections of the law, and an investigation is underway.
The police have urged the general public to cooperate in the fight against drug abuse and assured the community that strict action will be taken against those involved in illegal activities.
