In a bid to enhance customer experience, Bharat Sanchar Nigam Ltd (BSNL) is offering a free upgrade of existing landline connections to fibre-to-the-home (FTTH) services across the Kashmir Valley.

The company is converting its copper-based landline network to modern optical fibre without any additional charges, including the replacement of the customer's equipment with an Optical Network Terminal (ONT).

This upgrade ensures that subscribers can continue to use their existing landline numbers while enjoying seamless FTTH data and voice services. BSNL's fibre plans in the region start at Rs. 299 for urban areas and Rs. 249 for rural areas. Subscribers will benefit from speeds starting at 10 Mbps, with a minimum of 10GB of data download. The plans also include unlimited local and STD calls to any network, free of charge.

The move comes as part of BSNL's ongoing effort to phase out outdated copper wires, which are often damaged or worn out, in favor of more reliable and efficient optical fibre technology. The company believes that FTTH will significantly improve telecommunication services in the region, providing better reliability and speed.

Around 2,800 subscribers in Kashmir have already taken advantage of the upgrade, and BSNL plans to continue expanding its fibre network throughout the year. Landline subscribers interested in the upgrade can reach out to the respective sub-divisional engineers in their area for more information and assistance.
