Forest Protection Force Personnel Involved in Extortion in Tral
In a shocking revelation, personnel from the Forest Protection Force (FPF) in South Kashmir's Tral area have been accused of extorting money from local residents by exploiting their vulnerability.
The staff has reportedly been using intimidation tactics and threats in the name of senior officials to extort money from unsuspecting civilians.
The issue came to light on Sunday when FPF personnel entered the premises of prominent local figure, Fayaz Ahmad Mir, and raised objections about the firewood stored in his yard.
The staff allegedly began threatening and pressuring Mir’s family, attempting to extort money under the guise of facilitating the matter with higher authorities. During the encounter, Fayaz Ahmad Mir captured photographs of the personnel and questioned them about their duties. In response, the FPF members suggested that the matter could be resolved if a payment was made, assuring that the officers would also receive their share, thus allowing the issue to be "settled."
This blatant display of extortion shocked the family, prompting them to demand a thorough investigation into the actions of the FPF personnel. According to local sources, this is not an isolated incident.
The Forest Protection Force staff has been reportedly entering homes on a regular basis, criticizing firewood stored by residents, and intimidating them into paying money to avoid further trouble. This practice has been ongoing for quite some time, with allegations that some local FPF officers are complicit in the scheme.
The local community is expressing anger and frustration over the issue, calling for immediate action by the authorities to hold the responsible personnel accountable.
There are growing concerns that such practices are tarnishing the reputation of the Forest Protection Force, and locals have demanded a thorough inquiry to bring the culprits to justice.
The demand for swift government intervention is growing as the public continues to suffer under the pressure of this illegal extortion racket in Tral.
