Two Arrested for Illegal Mining Activities in South Kashmir, Vehicles Seized
In a continuing crackdown on illegal mining activities, the Awantipora Police have arrested two individuals for their involvement in the illegal extraction and transportation of minerals in the Khrew area.
The arrested persons have been identified as Sajad Ahmad Bhat, son of Nazir Ahmad Bhat, and Shabir Ahmad Sheikh, son of Ali Mohammad Sheikh, both residents of Wuyan. Police also seized two vehicles involved in the illegal activities: a Tipper (JK04A-8335) and a Dumper (JK13G-9826).
The arrests were made by a police party from the Police Station Khrew, following reports of illegal mining operations in the region. A case has been registered under FIR No. 1/2025 at Police Station Khrew, with relevant sections of the law applied.
Authorities have warned that anyone found involved in illegal mining activities will be dealt with strictly in accordance with the law. Investigations into the matter are ongoing.
