State Taxes Office Organizes GST Awareness Program in Sopore
The State Taxes Office Circle Baramulla-III (Sopore) successfully organized an outreach program on Goods and Services Tax (GST) at the Dak Bungalow in Sopore. The awareness and interaction session was attended by several key officials, including State Tax Officers Parvaiz Ahmad Ganaie, Majeed-Ul-Islam, Saleem Akber, and Showket Ahmad Showketh.
The program was conducted in two sessions: the first for traders and Small Scale Industry (SSI) unit holders, and the second for works contractors. In his opening remarks, STO Parvez Ahmad welcomed the attendees and highlighted that the program was being held on the directions of the Commissioner of the State Taxes Department.
The sessions featured informative discussions on various aspects of GST, including the timely filing of GST returns, the penalties related to fake invoices and fake Input Tax Credit (ITC), and the correct use of cash for setting off liabilities. Additionally, the impact of stock accumulation and the reimbursement process for SSI unit holders were also addressed.
The main objective of the program was to bridge the gap between the tax department and taxpayers, fostering a better understanding of GST regulations and compliance. The event provided a platform for attendees to interact with officials, clarify doubts, and gain valuable insights into GST compliance procedures. Several questions raised by traders were answered on the spot.
Speaking on the occasion, Mohammad Ashraf, President of the Traders Federation Sopore, Javid Ahmed, President of the SSI Unit Holders, and Gulzar Ahmad, President of the Contractors Association, expressed their appreciation for the program. They also requested that similar sessions be held in the future to further improve awareness and compliance.
