State Taxes Deptt Reviews Performance, Strategy for Enhanced Revenue Collection in Kashmir

A comprehensive review meeting of the State Taxes Department, Kashmir Division, was chaired by Commissioner State Taxes, Shri P.K. Bhat, JKAS, along with Additional Commissioner, Shri Parveez Ahmad Raina, JKAS.

The meeting, attended by State Taxes Officers from all circles of the Kashmir Division, aimed to assess ongoing activities and address challenges in improving tax compliance and revenue generation.

Key areas of focus included identifying fake ITC suppliers, ensuring timely filing of returns, and monitoring Tax Deducted at Source (TDS) payments. The Commissioner emphasized the importance of cracking down on dormant dealers, reviewing audits for revenue realization, and scrutinizing E-Way Bills to prevent revenue leakage.

Shri P.K. Bhat also urged the officers to use tools like GST Prime and MIS (Management Information System) for more efficient monitoring and revenue collection. He highlighted sectors like cement, iron, and mobile industries, where potential tax violations may occur, and directed officers to enforce GST laws strictly in these areas.

The meeting concluded with clear directives for enhanced vigilance and a commitment to strengthening tax administration in the region.
