Cold Wave Set to Grip Kashmir; Water Levels to Decline Further

Kashmir is bracing for another cold wave over the next 48 hours, with temperatures in the central and northern plains expected to drop between -4°C and -6°C, said Faizan Arif Kashmir's independent weather forecaster who runs Kashmir Weather.

In contrast, the southern plains could face harsher conditions, with temperatures plunging further to between -6°C and -9°C.

The region will continue to experience dry weather conditions, which are forecasted to persist until the end of the month. However, meteorological experts predict a weak Western Disturbance around January 31, which could bring some relief to the region.

In addition to the chill, experts warn that the water levels in the region’s rivers and lakes are likely to decline further due to the ongoing cold conditions. This could exacerbate concerns over water supply and irrigation, especially in the agricultural sector.

Residents are advised to take precautions against the extreme cold, while authorities are closely monitoring the weather situation to mitigate any potential impact on the region’s infrastructure and daily life.
