BIS, J&K Branch Office Conducts First-Ever Training Program on Standardization for ITI Principals and Superintendents in Kashmir
Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS), Jammu and Kashmir Branch Office (JKBO), in collaboration with the J&K Institute of Management, Public Administration & Rural Development (IMPARD), Government of Jammu and Kashmir, successfully conducted its first-ever training program on standardization for ITI principals and superintendents from the Kashmir region.
The program took place on 5th February 2025 at the IMPARD Institute, Srinagar.
Sh. Pankaj Atri, Joint Director, BIS-JKBO, delivered an insightful session, providing an overview of BIS as the National Standards Body and elaborating on the standard formulation process, use of BIS standards in curriculum and encouraging participation in Standard formulation activities. He gave a detailed presentation on BIS activities and standardization, highlighting key features of the BIS website, such as Know Your Standards, the Hallmarking Scheme, and the BIS Care App.
Emphasizing the significance of consumer protection, he elaborated on various initiatives undertaken by BIS to enhance stakeholder engagement at the grassroots level. He further explained how such involvement contributes to the technical upgradation of national standards and broadens their reach among end users.
Dr Khurshid, Associate Professor, IMPARD welcomed the initiative of BIS in this collaborative program and expressed his valuable insights about significance of such programs.
This training marks a significant step toward capacity building and promoting standardization awareness among key educational and technical institutions in Jammu and Kashmir.
