Grand Get-Together at Girls Higher Secondary School Bandipora Highlights Pensioners’ and Civil Society Issues
On February 8th, a grand gathering was held at the Girls Higher Secondary School in Bandipora under the banner of the Jammu, Kashmir, and Ladakh Pensioners United Front (JKPUF) and the Jammu Kashmir Civil Society Forum.
The event, led by Mr. Abdul Qayoom Wani, the dynamic state president of both organizations, brought together pensioners and civil society members from across the region to discuss key issues affecting them.
The meeting began with an address by Mr. Wani, who highlighted the various challenges faced by pensioners in the region, particularly regarding their rights and welfare. He emphasized the need for sustained efforts to address these issues and improve the living conditions of pensioners.
Following Mr. Wani’s address, Mr. Bashir Ahmad Mir, General Secretary of the Civil Society Forum, took the stage. He confidently spoke about the broader challenges faced by civil society members, calling for greater attention to their concerns and the need for more inclusive development policies.
The gathering also saw valuable contributions from other prominent speakers. Mr. Muhammad Yousuf Para, Mr. Ab Jabar (Ex-Principal), Mr. Muhammad Maqbool (Ex-Executive Officer of the Municipal Committee), and Mr. Farooq Malik (Chief Organiser) all offered insightful suggestions on how to tackle the issues affecting both pensioners and civil society at large. Their lectures were met with strong support from the attendees.
The event concluded with a presidential speech by Mr. Gh Muhammad Lone, Ex-Chief Education Officer, who highlighted the ongoing issues within the civil society sector and reiterated the collective responsibility to work towards the betterment of both pensioners and the community. His vibrant speech left a lasting impression on the gathering.
The meeting ended with a collective oath to work towards the development of pensioners and the betterment of civil society in Jammu and Kashmir. Participants left the event motivated and united in their commitment to advocate for the needs and rights of these groups.
This successful get-together marks another step in raising awareness and bringing attention to the important issues faced by pensioners and civil society members in the region.
