JKCSF Extends Support to Kishtwar’s ‘Mission Bijli Free’ Movement

The Jammu and Kashmir Civil Society Forum (JKCSF), under the leadership of Chairman Abdul Qayoom Wani, extends full support to the people of Kishtwar in their just and legitimate demand for free electricity.

Kishtwar, home to major hydroelectric projects contributing thousands of megawatts to the power grid, has long suffered from frequent outages, high tariffs, and environmental degradation caused by these projects. Despite bearing the brunt of large-scale infrastructure development, the local population has received little in return, violating the principles of equitable resource distribution.

JKCSF strongly condemns the suppression of peaceful protests and restrictions on democratic expression. The people of Kishtwar have a rightful claim to benefit from the natural resources of their own region. The government and power companies must honor past commitments, ensuring fair compensation, employment opportunities, and free electricity to the residents as a basic entitlement.

We urge the administration to engage in constructive dialogue with the people instead of imposing restrictions and ignoring their grievances. JKCSF will continue to advocate for the rights of affected communities and calls upon all stakeholders to ensure justice and fairness in resource sharing.Wani urged upon the jKCSF and JKLPUF unit of Kistwar  to provide unconditional support to the peace Full movement of mission Bijli free .
