JKCSF, JKPUF Urge Govt to Address Aaya Workers’ Wages, Job Security & Pending Salaries

A delegation of Aaya Workers Association met JKCSF Chairman Abdul Qayoom Wani to highlight the serious issues they are facing, including low wages, job insecurity, and unpaid salaries.

These workers, many of whom are widows and orphans from economically weaker sections, are currently paid a meager ₹5000, which is far below the minimum wage standards.

They have demanded an increase to ₹15,000 to sustain themselves with dignity. Despite being engaged under a five-year scheme, some officials are harassing them with threats of disengagement after just one year, creating unnecessary fear and uncertainty.

Additionally, five months' salaries remain unpaid, pushing them further into financial distress. The delegation also emphasized the need for professional training to enhance their skills in handling small children and called for a clear policy ensuring their job security.

Expressing deep concern, JKCSF Chairman Abdul Qayoom Wani stated that these workers, who serve as the backbone of early childhood education, deserve justice, dignity, and recognition for their role. He urged Hon’ble Chief Minister Omar Abdullah and Education Minister Sakina Itoo to intervene immediately and ensure the release of pending salaries, wage enhancement to ₹15,000, protection from unjust disengagement, and provision of proper training and job security.

JKCSF and JKPUF, under the leadership of Abdul Qayoom Wani, stand firmly with these daughters of the soil and will continue to fight for their rights until their genuine demands are met.
