MLA Gulmarg Farooq Shah Attends Seminar on Tourism Transformation at KU

MLA Gulmarg, Farooq Ahmad Shah, attended a one-day national seminar on "Infrastructure, Industry, and Academia: Driving Tourism Transformation in Kashmir," organized by the Department of Management Studies at the University of Kashmir. 

The seminar focused on sustainable tourism growth in the region, addressing infrastructure advancements, economic opportunities, and environmental challenges.

Speaking at the seminar, Farooq Ahmad Shah emphasized the need for a balanced approach to tourism development that ensures growth without compromising Kashmir's natural and cultural heritage. He underscored the importance of collaboration between the government, industry, and academia to develop policies promoting responsible and inclusive tourism.

The seminar covered key objectives, including safeguarding Kashmir's fragile environment and heritage, promoting sustainable tourism through infrastructure development, ensuring fair economic benefits for local communities, and enhancing academia’s role in tourism policy-making.

Following the seminar, Farooq Ahmad Shah conducted a thorough tour of the Gulmarg constituency, meeting with several public delegations and listening to their concerns. He reassured the people that their genuine grievances would be addressed on priority, reaffirming his commitment to public welfare and development in the region.

During his constituency visit, Mr. Shah toured the Sericulture Office in Dhobiwan, where he reviewed ongoing activities and urged officials to adopt a proactive approach. He emphasized the historical importance of Kashmir’s silk industry and called on authorities to engage with villages and spread awareness about modernizing sericulture practices. He expressed confidence that with proper planning and support, the industry could be revived, contributing significantly to the local economy.

Additionally, MLA Shah visited several bereaved families in Malwa, Bonsharan, Karhama, and Hardu Bani to offer his condolences following recent losses. He expressed deep sorrow, standing in solidarity with the grieving families, and prayed for the departed souls.
