AIP’s Advocate Dawood Criticises NC Govt Over Snow Clearance, Chopper Service Failure

Advocate Dawood, Senior Leader of Awami Ittehad Party (AIP) and Constituency Incharge for Lolab, has accused the government of gross negligence and a betrayal of its commitments to the people of Machil. Advocate Dawood slammed the administration for its failure to clear snow-bound roads and its inability to provide chopper services for far-flung areas, particularly during emergencies.

The tragic death of 25-year-old Gowher Ganie Mir, a B. Pharmacy student from Dapal Machil, has brought the government's apathy into glaring focus. His grieving family was forced to carry his body on foot from Kupwara to Machil after a long journey from Chandigarh, due to the government's failure to arrange air transport despite repeated pleas from the family.

Advocate Dawood condemned the administration, calling it "sheer cruelty." "This is not just negligence; it is sheer cruelty. The NC-led administration has time and again failed the people of Machil, leaving them abandoned in times of crisis. If a government cannot even ensure a dignified return for the deceased, what moral authority does it have to rule?" he thundered.

The senior AIP leader further criticized the government's repeated failure to clear snow-clogged roads despite multiple assurances. He accused the administration of making empty promises about providing chopper services for emergencies, labeling them as "blatant lies." “Had the government fulfilled its commitment, Gowher's body would have reached home with dignity, instead of his family being forced to endure this inhumane ordeal," Advocate Dawood stated.

Advocate Dawood also reiterated the long-standing demand for a tunnel to Machil, emphasizing that only a permanent all-weather road can prevent such tragedies from recurring. "Machil remains cut off from the rest of the world for months due to harsh weather conditions. A tunnel is not a luxury; it is a necessity. The government must prioritize this crucial infrastructure to ensure that the people of Machil do not continue to suffer," he concluded.
