DC Kupwara Inaugurates Bagh-e-Shehjaar Eco-park at Himal Warnow, Lolab

Deputy Commissioner (DC) Kupwara, Ayushi Sudan (IAS), inaugurated the Bagh-E-Shehjaar Eco-Park at Himal Warnow, Lolab. The park has been established by the J&K Forest Department’s Kamraj Forest Division Kupwara to promote green tourism and environmental sustainability in the region.

As part of the initiative, 45 Chinar saplings were planted within the eco-park to enhance its green cover and preserve the valley’s rich natural heritage. The event witnessed the presence of DFO Kamraj, Anurag Arya (IFS), Vice Chairman DDC Kupwara Haji Farooq Ahmad Mir, SDM Lolab Javid Naseem Masoodi, JKPC Leader Dr. Mudasir Akbar Shah, CEO of Creative CupCakes Arshiya Ojha, and other senior officials.

Speaking on the occasion, DC Kupwara Ayushi Sudan emphasized the administration's commitment to environmental conservation and sustainable tourism development. "The establishment of Bagh-E-Shehjaar Eco-Park aligns with our vision of promoting eco-friendly tourism while preserving the natural beauty of Kupwara. Such initiatives will help generate awareness about environmental conservation and provide new opportunities for local communities," she said.

Highlighting the department’s role in green initiatives, DFO Kamraj, Anurag Arya (IFS), remarked, "Our goal is to create a balance between ecological conservation and responsible tourism. The plantation of Chinar saplings symbolizes our commitment to restoring and maintaining the green heritage of Kashmir."

Notably, Lolab Valley was recognized as the 'Best Offbeat Destination' last year, further cementing its reputation as a pristine and eco-friendly travel destination.

The establishment of Bagh-E-Shehjaar Eco-Park is expected to bolster sustainable tourism, attract nature enthusiasts, and contribute to the region's ecological well-being.
