TLSC Chadoora Hosts Seminar on Gender Equality at Govt. Hr. Sec. School
The Tehsil Legal Services Committee (TLSC) Chadoora, in partnership with the Human Rights and Anti-Corruption Forum HQ Delhi, organized a seminar on gender equality at Government Higher Secondary School, Chadoora. The event aimed to raise awareness about legal rights, gender justice, and society’s role in fostering equality.
The seminar was attended by distinguished guests, including Chief Guest Ms. Nazia Hassan, Munsiff/JMIC Chadoora, alongside Sub-Divisional Magistrate Mr. Primrose Bashir, Principal Mr. Sheikh Mushtaq, Advocate Nazeer Ahmad, Mr. Sameer Ahmad Rasray and Mr. Aijaz Bashir from the Human Rights and Anti-Corruption Forum, Advocate Asma Zehra (Panel Lawyer), PLVs, members of the Special Cell for Women Chadoora, as well as students, teachers, and school management.
In her keynote address, Ms. Nazia Hassan emphasized that gender equality is a collective societal duty, not solely a women’s issue. She outlined constitutional protections, anti-discrimination laws, and measures against gender-based violence, stressing that education and awareness are key to dismantling biases. “True equality starts with changing mindsets,” she said, urging parents, educators, and policymakers to foster inclusivity early on.
Mr. Primrose Bashir reaffirmed the administration’s dedication to gender justice, spotlighting government initiatives for women’s empowerment and advocating for gender awareness in school curriculums. Advocate Nazeer Ahmad detailed legal safeguards for women, encouraging knowledge of remedies for discrimination.
Students contributed by sharing their views on equality, highlighting challenges and proposing solutions for inclusivity. Representatives from the Special Cell for Women discussed their work in tackling gender-based violence and supporting affected women.
The event wrapped up with Principal Sheikh Mushtaq delivering a vote of thanks, expressing appreciation to all participants for their impactful contributions to the dialogue on gender equality.
