ACT Hosts Seminar on World Theatre Day in Srinagar

A compelling seminar titled “Importance of Theatre in the Present Times” was organized by ACT – For A Better Tomorrow in Srinagar today, coinciding with World Theatre Day. The event, held in collaboration with the J&K Academy of Art, Culture and Languages, brought together prominent theatre artists, activists, and enthusiasts to address the declining interest in theatre among youth and explore ways to revitalize this art form.
 
The seminar featured distinguished speakers, including Mushtaaque Ali Ahmad Khan, M. Ameen Bhat, Manzoor A. Mir, Prof. Sowkat Shafi, and Shabbeer Mujahid, with Sayed Humayun Qaisar presiding as the Chief Guest. The discussions underscored theatre’s role in preserving cultural heritage, raising social awareness, and nurturing emotional intelligence. Speakers called for unified efforts from theatre activists, government bodies, and NGOs to rekindle youth engagement with the medium.
 
A vibrant audience of theatre lovers and artists contributed actively, sharing valuable perspectives on revitalizing the local theatre scene. The event was hailed as a pivotal move toward fostering greater appreciation for theatre in the region.
 
In his closing remarks, Mushtaaque Ali Ahmad Khan, Creative Director of ACT, thanked the dignitaries, speakers, participants, and the J&K Academy for their collaboration. 
 
He also lauded the print, electronic, and digital media for their consistent support of ACT’s initiatives, emphasizing their role in amplifying such cultural endeavors.
