UAPA Case: Srinagar Police Conduct Raids in Srinagar, Pulwama, and Baramulla
In a continued crackdown on the remnants of the secessionist and terrorist ecosystem in Jammu and Kashmir, Srinagar Police carried out searches at multiple residential locations in Srinagar, Pulwama, and Baramulla in connection with a UAPA case.
According to a police handout, the searches were conducted under FIR No. 01/2024 registered at Police Station Rajbagh under Sections 10 and 13 of the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act. The raids were carried out after obtaining search warrants from the designated NIA Court in Srinagar.
The search operations, conducted in the presence of an Executive Magistrate and independent witnesses, targeted the residences of Tehreek-e-Hurriyat members Bashir Ahmed Bhat alias Peer Saifullah (currently lodged in Tihar Jail) and Advocate Mohd Ashraf Laya. Incriminating materials including books, pamphlets, letterheads, and related documents were recovered from the residence of Bhat and have been seized following legal procedures.
Police stated that the investigation is ongoing and reaffirmed their commitment to maintaining peace and security in the region. Individuals involved in promoting violence or unlawful activities will face strict legal action, the statement added.
