JKCSF Chairman Applauds SKIMS Director for Strengthening Medical Infrastructure

Chairman of the Jammu and Kashmir Civil Society Forum (JKCSF) and President of the Pensioners United Front, Abdul Qayoom Wani, has extended his heartfelt appreciation to Dr. Mohammad Ashraf Ganie, Director of Sher-i-Kashmir Institute of Medical Sciences (SKIMS), for his exemplary leadership in enhancing the medical infrastructure of the region’s premier healthcare institution.

Wani lauded the recent commissioning of advanced medical equipment worth ₹50 crore at SKIMS, which includes state-of-the-art diagnostic and surgical tools. Among the newly added assets are high-end operating microscopes, 3D 4K visualizer towers, portable X-ray units, a wide bore CT simulator for cancer care, and advanced anesthesia workstations—enhancements that are expected to significantly boost the institute's capacity for specialized treatments, particularly in neurosurgery, oncology, and pediatric care.

"Under the dynamic leadership of Prof. Ashraf Ganie, SKIMS has made a remarkable stride towards clinical precision and excellence in patient care," Wani said, noting that the infrastructure upgrade marks a major milestone in public healthcare in Jammu and Kashmir.

He further praised Dr. Ganie’s dedication, administrative foresight, and unwavering commitment to the development of healthcare services. "This achievement is not only a testament to Dr. Ganie’s vision but also a major step toward ensuring world-class, accessible healthcare for the people of Jammu and Kashmir," Wani added.

Wani also acknowledged the collective efforts of the SKIMS faculty, administrative officers, and staff in bringing about this transformation. He expressed hope that SKIMS would continue to uphold its legacy as a center of medical excellence in the region.

Emphasizing the broader need for healthcare reform, Wani called upon the government to extend similar technological support to district and sub-district hospitals across Jammu and Kashmir. “The latest medical advancements must reach every corner of the Union Territory to benefit the common masses, especially those who lack access to major hospitals in Srinagar or Jammu,” he said.
