‘Those Who Kill Innocents Have No Religion’: Allama Dr. Hami

n a powerful and emotional address during Friday prayers at the Central Shahi Masjid in Hernag, Anantnag, Allama Dr. Ghulam Rasool Hami, Chairman of Karwan-e-Islami International, vehemently condemned the recent brutal killings in Pahalgam, describing the incident as a “shameful act of inhumanity” and a “grave violation of every moral and religious principle.”

“All those who mercilessly shed the blood of innocents—regardless of their religion, sect, or ideology—are completely disconnected from the essence of any true faith,” said Allama Hami. “No divine scripture, no moral doctrine, and no religion on earth condones such savagery.”

He urged swift justice, calling for the immediate identification, public exposure, and exemplary punishment of the perpetrators. “Justice must not only be done—it must be seen to be done. Only then can such barbaric acts be deterred in the future.”

Expressing anguish over attempts to politicize and communalize the incident, Allama Hami warned that extremist elements were trying to give the tragedy a sectarian color, leading to the harassment and mistreatment of Kashmiris in different parts of the country.

“This malicious agenda threatens to tear apart the fabric of peace and unity. I call upon both the Central and State governments to ensure the safety and dignity of all Kashmiri citizens and students across India,” he said, emphasizing that preserving communal harmony is a shared national responsibility.

Reflecting on the spiritual legacy of the Valley, Allama Hami said, “Kashmir, the resting place of countless saints and Sufi mystics, has always been a symbol of peace, love, and spiritual hospitality. The killing of innocents in this blessed land is not just a crime—it is a deep moral wound.”

He lauded the Kashmiri people for their historic tradition of hospitality and sacrifice. “Time and again, Kashmiris have laid down their lives to protect their guests. This is who we are.”

In his concluding remarks, the religious leader called on all Kashmiris to reject extremism in every form. “The Valley of Kashmir is not just a land—it is a sacred trust, a spiritual heritage. Preserving its sanctity and ethos of brotherhood is the moral duty of every true Kashmiri.”
