Awantipora Police Arrest Two Drug Peddlers, 130 Grams of Charas Recovered
In a continued crackdown on drug trafficking, Awantipora Police arrested two drug peddlers from the Panzgam area and recovered a substantial quantity of contraband from their possession.
The arrests were made during a routine vehicle checking at the Panzgam Railway Crossing naka point. The operation was led by Inspector Bilal Ahmad, In-charge of Police Post Reshipora.
The accused have been identified as: Parvaiz Ahmad Hajam, son of Ab Rashid Hajam, resident of Newa, Pulwama and Anees Mohammad, son of Gh Mohammad, resident of Karimabad.
The duo was travelling in a Tata Sumo vehicle (Registration No. JK13A-7136), which was signaled to stop for inspection. Upon searching the vehicle, officers recovered approximately 130 grams of a Charas-like substance from their possession.
The arrested individuals have been taken into custody, and the vehicle used in the commission of the crime has been seized. A case under FIR No. 106/2025 has been registered at Police Station Awantipora under relevant sections of the NDPS Act.
A police spokesperson reiterated the department’s commitment to eradicating drug abuse from the region, stating, “Our ongoing action against drug peddlers aims to assure the community that we are working tirelessly to keep our society safe and free from the scourge of drugs.”
