Dr. Ghulam Rasool Hami Calls for United Effort Against Drug Abuse

The rise of every nation is rooted in knowledge and wisdom, and it is this foundation that distinguishes one society from another, said Allama Dr. Ghulam Rasool Hami, Chief Patron of Karwan-e-Islami International. He was addressing a large congregation at the sacred shrine of Hazrat Syed Bahauddin Ganj Bakhsh Simnani (RA) in Arahama, Shopian, on the occasion of Jumu‘ah.

Speaking before thousands of devotees who had gathered from across the region, Allama Hami paid tribute to Syed Bahauddin Simnani (RA) and other revered saints, noting their invaluable contributions to the spiritual and intellectual development of the Kashmiri nation.

"Syed Bahauddin Ganj Bakhsh (RA), along with thousands of accomplished saints and noble sages, enriched this land with the ornament of knowledge and awareness," said Allama Hami. "Through their deep inner and outward wisdom, they awakened society and offered both spiritual guidance and practical solutions for success in worldly affairs."

He emphasized the need for the younger generation to be thoroughly acquainted with the teachings and life stories of such saints. "It is essential that not only religious institutions but also social organizations and individuals of wisdom take initiative in promoting this legacy," he added.

Turning to the pressing issue of drug abuse, Allama Hami described intoxicants as a "cancer" for society. "All forms of drugs and intoxicating substances are deeply harmful. They contribute to physical deterioration, social breakdown, economic instability, and moral decay," he warned.

"A nation gripped by the plague of addiction can never achieve welfare or prosperity," he stated, urging both governmental and non-governmental bodies to take decisive action. "It is the collective responsibility of all stakeholders to cleanse our society of this menace and guide our youth towards a path of righteousness and development."

Allama Hami's address served as both a tribute to the legacy of the saints and a clarion call for societal reform in the face of modern challenges.
