School timing changed in Kashmir amid heatwave
Minister of Education, Sakina Itoo Thursday said that the school timing has been changed in Kashmir region and will be implemented from Monday in view of the heat wave across Jammu and Kashmir.
Itoo said, “I had instructed the School Education Department to change the school timing in view of the heat wave.”
“I have been informed by the parents that their wards feel dizzy in the morning assembly,” she said.
Itoo further said, “The school timing has been changed and I have directed the concerned team that morning assembly shall not be conducted in the open field.”
“As far as summer vacations are concerned, we will have to wait for the appropriate timing for it,” she said.
In the meantime Director of School Education Kashmir (DSEK) issued an official order with regard to the change in school timing for Kashmir division with effect from May-26.
DSEK in an order said that the schools within Srinagar municipal limits shall have a school time of 8:30 Am to 2:30 Pm in all government and private schools.
It also said that the educational institutes outside municipal limits of Srinagar and other areas of Kashmir province shall have a timing of 9:00 Am to 3:00 pm.
“The order and instructions shall be adhered to strictly by all the concerned institutions. Any deviation in this regard shall be viewed seriously.” DSEK said.
