Indian Parliamentary Delegation Arrives in Doha to Begin Four-Nation Tour

A high-level multi-party Indian parliamentary delegation led by Supriya Sule, Member of Parliament (Lok Sabha), arrived in Doha, Qatar today, marking the first leg of a four-nation tour that includes South Africa, Ethiopia, and Egypt.

The two-day visit from May 24 to 26, 2025, is part of India’s broader diplomatic outreach following the April 22 terrorist attack in Pahalgam and the subsequent Operation Sindoor.

The delegation comprises sitting Members of Parliament from both Houses, former Union Ministers, and seasoned diplomats. Their visit aims to engage with Qatari dignitaries, as well as members of the media, academia, and civil society, to share India’s perspective on the recent developments and reinforce India's firm stance against terrorism.

The Indian delegation includes:

    Ms. Supriya Sule, MP

    Mr. Rajiv Pratap Rudy, MP

    Mr. Vikramjeet Singh Sahney, MP

    Mr. Manish Tewari, MP

    Mr. Anurag Singh Thakur, MP

Mr. Lavu Sri Krishna Devarayalu, MP

Mr. Anand Sharma, Former Union Minister of Commerce & Industry

Mr. V. Muraleedharan, Former MoS for External Affairs

Ambassador Syed Akbaruddin, Former Permanent Representative of India to the UN

The visit follows a series of high-level diplomatic engagements between India and Qatar in the aftermath of the Pahalgam attack. On May 6, Prime Minister Narendra Modi and HH Sheikh Tamim Bin Hamad Al-Thani, the Amir of Qatar, held a telephone conversation discussing the situation. This was followed by another call on May 7 between Qatar’s Prime Minister and Foreign Minister HE Sheikh Mohammed bin Jassim Al-Thani and India’s External Affairs Minister Dr. S. Jaishankar.

Qatar’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs had issued a statement on April 23 strongly condemning and denouncing the terrorist attack in Pahalgam, signalling solidarity with India in its fight against terrorism.

India has launched seven multi-party delegations to various parts of the world to share its position on the scourge of terrorism, particularly its zero-tolerance approach towards cross-border terrorism. The current delegation in Doha is expected to underline India’s united and determined resolve to combat terrorism in all its forms and manifestations.
