JCC in Deep Slumber as Singhpora Pattan Jam Becomes a Daily Struggle
Daily traffic congestion at Singhpora along the Srinagar-Baramulla National Highway has become a regular ordeal for commuters over the past month, sparking growing frustration among residents and motorists.
Commuters blame the worsening condition of the road on incomplete and delayed construction work being carried out by JCC Company in the Singhpora market area. Large, deep potholes have developed, making it nearly impossible for vehicles to pass smoothly and for pedestrians to walk safely.
Drivers reported that they are frequently forced to wait in long queues as vehicles navigate the damaged stretch one by one. “It has become a daily routine to be stuck here for hours. Many times, heavy vehicles get stuck in the potholes, worsening the jam,” a local truck driver said.
Residents also expressed serious concerns about the health hazards caused by the persistent dust and mud generated by the damaged road. “The dust in the air is unbearable. People are falling sick, but the authorities and the construction company are ignoring our plight,” a local shopkeeper alleged.
Despite the difficulties, police personnel, including SDPO Pattan and his team, were seen on the ground helping clear the bottlenecks and streamline traffic movement in the area.
Locals have urged the administration to intervene immediately and press the construction company to expedite roadwork to alleviate the growing public distress.
