JKCSF & JKPUF Extend Eid-ul-Azha Greetings, Urge Govt to Address Public Grievances Ahead of Festival

On the eve of Eid-ul-Azha, the Jammu and Kashmir Civil Society Forum (JKCSF) and the J&K Pensioners United Front (JKPUF), led by Chairman Abdul Qayoom Wani, extended warm greetings to the people of Jammu and Kashmir, calling for a governance response grounded in empathy, justice, and urgency.

Highlighting the festival's spirit of sacrifice and service, the organisations stressed the need for swift redressal of public, welfare, and employee-related issues to enable dignified celebrations across the region.

Key Demands:

Market Regulation & Food Safety:
Authorities were urged to curb inflation, ensure fair pricing of essentials like meat and bakery items, inspect food outlets, and manage traffic flow in congested areas ahead of Eid.

Pending Wages & Employee Grievances:
The plight of daily wagers, cooks, Aayas, contingent staff, and Anganwadi workers—many of whom remain unpaid—was raised as a critical concern. The groups demanded immediate salary disbursal, especially for those in the School Education Department and ICDS.

Contractors & Pensioners:
Contractors awaiting payments “for years” are under financial and mental duress. Pensioners continue to face delays in receiving pensions, GPF dues, leave salary, and commuted amounts, with banks reportedly deducting EMIs without fund releases.

Social Welfare & Essential Services:
Immediate clearance of pending cases for widows, disabled persons, and social welfare beneficiaries was sought. Ensuring uninterrupted power, water, and ration supply during Eid was also highlighted.

Environmental Cleanliness Post-Qurbani:
The government was urged to act on the responsible disposal of animal remains to prevent public health hazards and environmental degradation.

The JKCSF and JKPUF called on the administration to treat these concerns with urgency and compassion, asserting that true celebration lies in shared responsibility and upliftment of the underserved.
