Cyber Police Kashmir Issues Stern Warning Against Spread of Misinformation

The Cyber Police Kashmir has issued a firm advisory cautioning media outlets and individuals on social media platforms against circulating false and unverified information that could incite unrest or disturb public peace.

According to the statement, it has come to the attention of authorities that certain media organizations and social media users are deliberately spreading misinformation, potentially with the intent to provoke disharmony and create public disorder.

“Legal action will be taken against individuals and organizations found responsible for spreading fake news or misinformation with malicious intent,” the Cyber Police warned. “Such acts fall under punishable offenses as per relevant sections of the law.”

The department has strongly urged citizens, media platforms, and social media users to exercise caution and verify the authenticity of content before sharing, particularly if the information is sensitive or likely to disturb public peace.

Authorities emphasized that false propaganda not only misleads the public but also threatens communal harmony and security. The Cyber Police reaffirmed their commitment to tracking the sources of such misinformation and holding accountable those who spread it.

The public is encouraged to report suspicious or unverified content to the nearest police station or through the official cybercrime reporting channels.
