Chemist and Distributor Bodies Unite in Baramulla to Tackle Trade Malpractices and Concession System
In a significant development aimed at streamlining the pharmaceutical trade in Baramulla, a pivotal meeting was convened today at the Pandith Complex, Jadeed Link Road. The session brought together key stakeholders from the Chemists and Druggists Association Baramulla and the Wholesale Pharmaceutical Distributors Association to address pressing concerns affecting the local pharmaceutical sector.
The meeting commenced with MIHD Ashraf Ganai, President of the Chemists and Druggists Association Baramulla, outlining the agenda and emphasizing the need for collaborative efforts to safeguard the interests of traders and ensure ethical practices within the industry.
General Secretary Bashir Ahmed Najar highlighted the detrimental impact of certain prominent figures engaging in malpractices, offering concessions that disrupt market harmony and create confusion among chemists and patients alike.
Abdul Qayoom Gojree of M/S Care Health advocated for unity among trade bodies, proposing the elimination of the concession system to restore order and fairness in the market.
Shahid Iqbal of M/S EMM Pharma urged Baramulla chemists to prioritize local wholesalers, asserting that supporting local businesses would bolster the community's economic resilience.
Irshad Rasool of M/S Zaffer Medicate delivered an impassioned appeal for collective action, urging traders to abandon the concession practice and work towards a unified goal.
Zahid Hussain Shah of M/S Farhan Medicate criticized the previous association leadership for its perceived ineffectiveness and bias, calling for accountability and immediate redressal of ongoing issues faced by chemists.
Suhail Rufayee of M/S Health Mart echoed the demand for the rollback of the concession system, offering full support to the association's initiatives.
Sheikh Ajaz, President of the Pharmaceutical Distributors Association, assured the chemists' body of unwavering support, emphasizing the importance of unity to prevent the hijacking of the trade by unscrupulous elements.
Prominent traders, including Sheikh Tajamul of M/S Sheikh Medicate, Sajad Ahmad Najar of M/S Shafiq Medicate, and Pervaiz Ahmad Sheikh of M/S Sheikh Brothers, pledged their full cooperation to President Mir Ghulam Nabi.
Concluding the meeting, Mir Ghulam Nabi announced the formation of a three-member committee tasked with engaging with chemists and submitting a comprehensive report within three days. This initiative aims to address the concerns raised and implement effective solutions for the betterment of the pharmaceutical trade in Baramulla.
