Nurturing Huffaz, Scholars Essential for Disciplined, Integrated Society, says Dr. Hami
In today’s progressive era, intellectual refinement and social upliftment are strongly emphasized for socio-economic advancement. Certainly, sciences and contemporary disciplines are indispensable for positive transformation, constructive development, and a better future.
However, the foundation of a truly cohesive and disciplined society is not confined to material pursuits alone; it is equally connected to morality, ethics, and the understanding of spiritual and religious sciences.
These views were expressed by Chief Karwani Islami International, Allama Dr. Ghulam Rasool Hami, while addressing thousands of people on the blessed day of Friday at Khanqah Faiz Panah, Pakherpora. On this special occasion, a group of graduating scholars and preachers were honored with the distribution of certificates and the ceremonial conferment of turbans (Dastarbandi). In his address, Allama Hami said that religious scholars, by strengthening modern sciences with sacred knowledge, lead society towards comprehensive and sustainable progress. He explained that scholars not only stress developmental matters but also identify factors harmful to growth, thereby creating awareness among the public to resolve such issues and prevent decline.
Congratulating the graduating scholars, Allama Hami stated that, in the light of current circumstances, scholars and intellectuals carry a great responsibility.
Along with spreading Islamic sciences and Shariah matters, they must also take intellectual and practical measures against social evils such as the spread of drugs, playing an invaluable role in restoring the moral and spiritual health of society.Allama Hami further stressed that the primary objective of both worldly and religious knowledge is to raise the banner of Truth, so that humanity may achieve peace, security, development, continuous progress, and the highest standards of justice — thereby eradicating unrest, ignorance, and chaos from the world. Addressing the youth, he urged them to pledge themselves to eliminate social backwardness and human shortcomings through knowledge and awareness.
He called on them to become the light of the future, advancing with intellectual strength and positive engagement. He reminded that Islam provides no space for hatred. That is why the Sufi saints considered knowledge and awareness, alongside brotherhood, as the true criterion of Truth. It was through this approach that thousands of perfected saints — such as Hazrat Ali Alauddin Balkhi (RA) — dispelled the clouds of darkness and, with the illuminating lamp of Prophetic knowledge ﷺ, breathed new life into society.
